We recently had a client come to us with a specific bottleneck: standard tape heads simply couldn't handle their wide-format jobs without wrinkling the material or forcing them to run multiple parallel passes. In response, our engineering team designed and built custom large tape applicator heads, scaling up to the 80-150mm range. 

These aren't just standard heads stretched wider. Moving to a 150mm width fundamentally changes the mechanics of taping. While you get the immediate benefit of massive coverage and superior bond strength in a single pass, pulling wide industrial tape off a roll introduces high unwind tension and a serious risk of edge curling. We engineered these custom units specifically to keep specialized adhesives flat, tensioned, and jam-free, integrating them directly into two of our core machines.

For mixed-batch production where dimensions change frequently, we pair these heavy-duty heads with the DMHA-1420 semi-automatic taping machine. Wide tape rolls are heavy. To prevent vibration and misalignment, we reinforced the DNHA-1420’s chassis to support the extra payload and the aggressive pull of the tape. This setup gives operators the hands-on control they need, while the machine’s precision mechanics ensure that even a massive 150mm strip goes down dead-straight and bubble-free.

High-speed, continuous production requires a different approach entirely. Running 80-150mm tape on a fast conveyor makes tension control notoriously difficult—a slight lag means snapped tape, and too much slack guarantees a wrinkled application. By integrating the wide head onto the DMHA-A800 fully-automatic machine, we solved the speed issue. The DMHA-A800 utilizes automated tensioning that continuously adjusts as the roll's diameter shrinks. It keeps the feed smooth and eliminates the need for constant operator tweaking on the line. It just runs.

Transitioning to wide-format adhesives isn't an off-the-shelf upgrade. The applicator head has to be calibrated to the specific tape type, substrate, and throughput demands of your facility.
