Standard tape applying machines work perfectly well—until you try feeding an extra-long wooden board or a massive sheet of corrugated cardboard through them.

The issue always comes down to the feeding and receiving tables. Most off-the-shelf equipment has a compact footprint. When you run heavy, oversized materials across a short bed, the overhang causes the material to tilt or sag. The result? The tape line wanders, the adhesive bond is compromised, and you end up wasting both expensive material and production time. It's a bottleneck we see constantly in the woodworking and heavy-duty packaging machinery sectors.

A recent client came to us hitting this exact wall. Their workflow required applying double-sided tape precisely across extra-long wood profiles and large corrugated sheets. Buying a standard machine wasn't going to cut it unless they wanted their operators to manually support the boards on the way out—which defeats the purpose of automation.

Instead of forcing a standard model on them or charging exorbitant fees for a redesign, our engineering team looked at their material specs and modified our multi-head double-sided tape applicator machine to fit their exact reality. We designed and built a structural customization for them, completely free of charge.

We scrapped the standard compact tray and integrated extended feeding and receiving platforms. 

Take a close look at the receiving end: we built a massive, flat metal surface stabilized by heavy-duty, adjustable support legs. Factory floors are rarely perfectly level, so the adjustability ensures the bed is dead-flat. This setup catches and supports the heavy wooden boards and corrugated cardboard the second they exit the taping heads. There is no tilting, no shifting, and no tape stretch.

The machine shown in the photo is running a three-head configuration. 

For this specific client, that meant they could lay down three parallel lines of tape in a single, continuous pass. When you combine that with the extended support tables, you are effectively multiplying operator output by three while dropping the error rate to zero.

From an operational standpoint, we kept things straightforward. 

The application heads are driven by servo motors to ensure exact placement without bubbling. The entire process is controlled via a standard PLC touchscreen (HMI). Your operators don't need to be software engineers to run it; they simply dial in the tape length, spacing, and feed speed. It’s also built to be versatile—if you need to switch from thick wood to PVC, acrylic, or heavy paper, the changeover is quick and painless.
